BACKBONE is looking for adventurers, explorers and the creative likes of people who are willing to step outside the box and create their own studio-based performance. Actors, performers, dancers, circus performers, directors, musicians, puppeteers, designers, visual artists and futurists are urged to head over to the audition room and prove a new slant of developing indifferent ways of creative performance and become part of the Backbone Ensemble.
The Backbone Ensemble will be a five month long, audition entry professional development and performance opportunity for emerging performers interested in investigating contemporary performance as a performance practice. Led by Backbone’s Artistic Director Andrew Cory and guest tutors, the training will give the accepted participants an opportunity to develop various skills pertinent to exploring new ways of creating performance in the 21st century. The training will allow participants to gain invaluable skills and allow them to create their own studio-based masterpiece!
Training will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-1pm from 8 March to 28 July 2011.
Acceptance into the Ensemble is by audition only. The Auditions will be held on 27 January 2011 from 10am-2pm at the Warehouse Space, Level 4, Metro Arts. The Audition will include movement exercise, voice play, improvisation and collaborative devising.
