Nine year old Gold Coast girl joins the Nutcracker

posted Sunday, 1 Aug

Silkwood Primary School’s very own prima ballerina Isabella Neophyton has been handpicked as one of 12 of the Gold Coast's elite young dancers to perform with the Imperial Russian Ballet Company during their Nutcracker tour.

Having begun ballet classes as a toddler, even when she is not in a formal ballet class at Anne Kingsford's Acadamy of Dance, Isabella is usually leaving a trail of pirouettes wherever she goes.

Dedicated to her craft, Isabella has spent many extra hours training with this prestigious dance company, readying herself for the concert at the end of this month.

Isabella's parents are understandably proud of their little girl.

"I couldn't believe it when I received a phone call asking if I thought Isabella would be interested," Ms Neophyton said.

"I had to wait for confirmation for almost a month. I think it was the hardest secret I've ever had to keep from her. She was so excited when I finally shared the news. It's just such an amazing honour."

For those who wish to attend the concert, Isabella will be on stage for two nights only on Monday and Tuesday, August 30 and 31.

Tickets can be purchased via the Gold Coast Arts Centre.
