Escape from the rain into the cinematic cocoon of the Mercury Cinema and check out the daring artistry and madcap hilarity of Exit Through the Gift Shop and Bunny & The Bull.

Exit Through the Gift Shop

The BigPond Adelaide Film Festival, Madman Entertainment and the Mercury Cinema are proud to present the exclusive Adelaide season of Exit Through The Gift Shop: a film by world famous street artist, Banksy. It is a remarkable documentary that is part personal journey and part an expose of the art world with its mind-altering mix of hot air and hype.

Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post-hurricane New Orleans to the Palestinian segregation wall in the West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film.

Exit Through The Gift Shop is the story of how an eccentric French shop keeper and amateur filmmaker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the world's most infamous graffiti artists at work.

In the end, Exit Through the Gift Shop is an amazing ride, a cautionary modern fairy tale... with bolt cutters. BigPond Adelaide Film Festival director Katrina Sedgewick says:

“This was my favourite film at Berlin this year – don’t miss it – thoroughly entertaining – great art, clever ideas, funny and very cheeky. It’s a ripper.”

Bunny & The Bull

Combining the visual inventiveness of Michel Gondry and the wry comedy of The Mighty Boosh, Bunny & The Bull is a Withnail & I for the 21st century - a funny, touching, beautiful and utterly unique journey to the end of the room. Starring Ed Hogg (White Lightnin'), Simon Farnaby (Jam and Jerusalem), Julian Barratt (Howard Moon in The Mighty Boosh) and Noel Fielding (Vince Noir in The Mighty Boosh).

Stephen Turnbull hasn't been outside in months. When a sudden infestation of mice forces him to abandon his routine, he finds his mind hurtling back to the eventful trek around Europe he undertook with his friend Bunny. Two gambling addicts let loose for the first time, they are hopelessly unprepared for the adventure that awaits them. Stephen's flat becomes the springboard for an extraordinary odyssey through lands made up of snapshots and souvenirs, from the industrial wastelands of Silesia to the bull fields of Andalucia.

British Independent Film Awards 2009 - WINNER - best achievement in production. Toronto International Film Festival and London International Film Festival- 2009 official selection.
