One of the world’s biggest Performing Arts Festivals for Young Audiences will be held this year in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Malmoe (Sweden).
From the 20th to the 29th of May, ASSITEJ 2011 invites the whole world to Copenhagen and Malmoe to take part in an outstanding celebration of children and young people, performing arts and international collaboration.
ASSITEJ 2011 offers the chance to see 27 international performances from all over the world including Japan, Brazil, Iran, Zambia and Australia. In this international festival Australia's contribution will be represented by Fluer Elise Noble and the extradinary piece 2 Dimensional Life of Her which was also programmed as part of the 2010 Danish Childrens Festival.
The focus point of the festival is to showcase new, original plays and will also presents a special performing arts cavalcade with twenty Danish and Swedish performances, ground-breaking seminars and workshops, open-space sessions, playwrights’ slams tea-time discussions, readings and much more.
Every three years audiences from the whole world come together to celebrate and in 2011, ASSITEJ Denmark and ASSITEJ Sweden have the privilege of hosting and organising this extraordinary event. The theme ”Building Bridges, Crossing Borders” is reflected in the cultural diversity of the performances and in the joint nationality of hosts Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmoe, Sweden. The previous ASSITEJ Performing Arts Festival and World Congress took place in Adelaide, Australia in 2008.
The ASSITEJ 2011 Festival will celebrates:
- Children and Young People – their cultural experiences and cultural identity
- Performing Arts – new inspiration, qualitydevelopment and diversity
- International Collaboration – exchange of experiences and inspiration across borders
