Australian Youth Music Council Conference

posted Sunday, 1 Aug

The Australian Youth Music Council (AYMC) is a new youth committee for Australian music, established as part of the Music Council of Australia in 2009. It has 11 committee members from across the country, all young musicians from a range of backgrounds, and continues to expand its activities and membership.

To celebrate the International Year of Youth and AYMC’s first birthday there will be a Youth Music Conference on September 25, 2010. This is an opportunity to look at the issues facing young musicians, hear from a range of speakers from different backgrounds, network, and discuss the way forward for the AYMC and youth music in Australia.

The AYMC is looking for people from a range of musical backgrounds with an interest in youth music to come along, share ideas, learn something, and meet young people who want to make a difference to Australian music.

The AYMC Conference is on at the Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane on Saturday, September 25 from 10am-5pm. It'll set you back $40 and everyone is welcome to attend, with young musicians especially encouraged.

For registration, program and other information, see www.aymc.org.au/about/conference

This event is the day before the MCA Annual Assembly, the only conference that looks at the full breadth of musical activity in Australia. There is a discount for attending both conferences.

Please join the AYMC on Facebook and Twitter, visit the website, ask a question on Formspring or contact AYMC for more information.
