Babies Proms: The Three Kings season extended

posted Wednesday, 1 Dec

This month, Sydney Opera House has a special Christmas treat for their youngest fans who love to sing along and be part of the show: The Three Kings, a musical pageant about the first Christmas including festive carols and songs. And, due to popular demand, the season for the final Babies Proms show of 2010 has been extended until Christmas Eve: Saturday 11 December – Friday 24 December.

Babies Proms introduces kids aged 2-5 to the joys of live music and storytelling in a relaxed, informal and interactive environment, and is part of Sydney Opera House's Kids at the House program which provides a year-long series of performances and creative experiences for young people.

The Three Kings travel far and wide, through long, cold desert nights and hot, sunny days. They bring the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the newborn King.

The Babies Proms Orchestra conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams, play lots of familiar Christmas carols including 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', 'Joy to the World' and 'Silent Night'. Soloist Saskia Smith sings the songs and encourages everyone to join in.

The Three Kings is written and directed by Catherine Martin who has worked extensively in theatre and television as a writer, composer, performer and producer and is currently a writer on the children's television series Toybox on Channel Seven. Catherine was the script producer on Hi-5 for several years, having previously worked as the Hi-5 script writer and script editor.

The Three Kings is a wonderful way for young children and their parents to celebrate the Christmas season. Come dressed in your best Christmas outfit and be part of the fun!

Head along to The Studio from Saturday, 11 December - Friday, 24 December (excluding Monday's) at 10am, 11am or 12pm. Shows run for 35 mins and will set you back $19 ($15 for childcare groups). To book, phone (02) 9250 7777 or head to the Sydney Opera House website.
