Backbone Youth Arts, Queensland's leading Youth Theatre company, provides children and young people with unique opportunities to develop and extend their creativity and imagination through a diverse program of workshops, performances and festival presentations. With a strong vision for its future, an ambitious program to be delivered in 2010 and expectations of strong organisational growth, the company is looking to engage a part-time Administrator to join its small team.

The Administrator will be the first point of contact for enquiries about the company, and must have the capacity to communicate with young people and their families, workshop facilitators and arts workers. They will be responsible for the smooth running of the office, and providing administrative support to the General Manager and Artistic Director across all of Backbone’s programs.

The Administrator's key responsibilities include office and workshops administration, including both term-based and schools/office workshops; finances; and assisting with marketing and sponsorship duties.

Some evening and weekend work is required; it is understood that working hours are flexible but determined in consultation with the General Manager and Artistic Director. In addition, the Administrator will be required to attend management committee meetings, which are normally held monthly for a duration of approximately 1.5 hours, and 2 strategic planning days per year.

Applicants must specifically address each of the following selection criteria:

Essential

SC1: Arts or Business degree.

SC2: Experience with Microsoft Office software.

SC3: Experience in working with the public, or other experience demonstrating high level communication skills.

SC4: High-level organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, time manage and multi-task.

Desirable

SC 5: Experience with MYOB software.

SC 6: Experience or qualifications in marketing or publicity.

SC 7: Experience or qualifications in arts or drama.

SC 8: Experience in working with young people (aged 9 – 18 years).
