The Adelaide Fringe Festival is known for throwing kick-ass Opening Night concerts. Art vs Science, Tzu, Fire! Santa Rosa Fire! and The Killgirls have all graced the stage, but this year, it's time for something different.

Having worked alongside and supported the Festival over the last six years, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Fuse Festival have united, adding a second stage to the program giving local and interstate bands the opportunity to play in front of the massive Opening Night crowds.

As the sun sets, the parade iwith its cast of thousands, led by your alternative King and Queen of Fringe will make its way down the streets of the East End into the gorgeous surrounds of Rymill Park to a magically lit Wonderland of free entertainment. Across two stages, guests will experience the diverse sounds of a select line-up of 2011's most exciting new acts.

The Adelaide Fringe and Fuse @ Fringe stages will play host to the likes of Sally Seltmann (formerly known as New Buffalo), the John Steel Singers, The Transatlantics, Radical Son, Iwantja Band, Jackson Firebird, City Riots and more.

Fuse @ Fringe replaces the previous ticketed Fuse Festival 'Explode' showcase, but continues to feature a handful of 'export-ready' bands from across the country. The Fuse @ Fringe stage will showcase the best of Australia's up and coming acts, including:

  • John Steel Singers (QLD)
  • City Riots (SA)
  • The Salvadors (SA)
  • 20th Century Graduates (SA)
  • San Cisco (WA)
  • The Honey Pies (SA)
  • Microwave Jenny (NSW)
  • and one lucky Triple J Unearthed Winner (TBA)

Held annually in Adelaide, Fuse is the longest running music industry conference and showcase festival in Australia, drawing over 5000 people each year. The 2011 Fuse Festival will be held in over 20 venues across Adelaide and this year will run in close association with The Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Fuse Festival 2011 will rock out over three days from 16th – 18th February. Days will be spent at Songwriting & Management master classes and the annual conference, saving the nights for dancing to over 80 local and interstate bands.

For more information on the Fuse Festival, head to their website; and check out the full Opening Night lineup and set times over at the Adelaide Fringe website.
