Baroque at the Ballroom

posted Friday, 1 Jan

For the first time in its 33 year history, Adelaide Baroque takes baroque music out of the concert hall and into the Burnside Ballroom.

This concert recreates the music of the 18th century café in Leipzig which hosted the Collegium Musicum, a society for chamber music and pleasure. BYO supper and enjoy a cabaret performance of works by Bach, Handel and Telemann in the unique heritage-listed Burnside Ballroom.

Adelaide Baroque has assembled a fine ten-piece chamber ensemble of local, interstate and international baroque musicians. Baroque oboist Jane Downer, who trained in Adelaide, makes a welcome guest appearance on tour in Australia from her home base in Oxford, UK.

A free tasting of Fox Creek wine completes this deliciously different evening. One night only!

Café Zimmermann's Baroque at the Ballroom takes place at the Burnside Ballroom, Saturday 20 February at 8pm. For tickets or more information visit www.adelaidefringe.com.au.
