Before and After Knockoff joins Sydney Fringe Festival

posted Wednesday, 1 Sep

Written by James Pike, Before and After Knockoff is a play that follows the drama round a Bathurst concreting outfit following an in-family sacking. It is an electrifying new work in an innovative Australian dialect that hosts the partnership of multiple Regional Arts organisations in support.

Playwright Pike combines these tradesmans’ course language with an old English eloquence. The result is an aesthetic providing hard-hitting comment on the notions of masculine honour and integrity that highlights Pike, 22, as a moving writer for the theatre.

A diverse array of theatre-makers (both seasoned and emerging) with origins across the state produce the work with the support from local arts organisations Local Stages, Arts OutWest, Bathurst Theatre Company and the Charles Sturt University’s Theatre and Media course. This is the first time all these organisations have combined.

Before and After Knockoff is being performed at the New Theatre, Newtown in September on:

• Tuesday 14th at 7:30pm
• Friday 17th at 10pm
• Saturday 18th at 2pm
• Sunday 19th at 5pm

Tickets prices are set at $24 for the general public and $20 for concession including students and can be purchased by visiting the website or calling (02) 9550 3666.
