Black Swan State Theatre Company and HotHouse Theatre present The Web by Kate Mulvany, at the Playhouse Theatre September 26 and October 11. Kate won the 2004 Philip Parsons Award for her play The Danger Age and the 2007 Sydney Theatre Awards for Best Independent Production, The Seed. In her latest work, The Web, she delivers a masterful exploration of social isolation and cyberspace crime.

Originally from Western Australia, Kate draws on her own experiences of growing up in Geraldton, to fashion a gripping, contemporary mystery about a friendship between two young men in a fictional regional Australian town that goes horribly wrong. When Travis takes Fred under his wing to help him with a social studies assignment, it triggers an intriguing chain of events that ends in a vicious attack. As the police investigate, it becomes clear that nothing is straightforward in the collision between the virtual and real worlds of the teenage imagination.
