Kim Carpenter, Artistic Director of Theatre of Image, Sydney's theatre for children and families and the designer of The Book of Everything will do a brief introduction to his work and show designs from The Book of Everything. This will be followed by some fun, interactive visual theatre exercises in object theatre.
Kim requests that you each bring along a favourite object, preferably one that has a history and makes you happy. Please wrap your object and keep it an absolute secret from the other participants.
Thomas Klopper - aged 9, nearly 10, writes down his greatest determination:
"When I grow up I'm going to be happy." The Book of Everything
Theatre of Image Ltd (TOI) was founded in 1988 by the Artistic Director, Kim Carpenter.
Kim is the only practising director/designer in Australia. A graduate of NIDA and the English National Opera School Design he was formerly Co-Artistic Director of Nimrod Theatre, a member of the Board of Studies and Head of Design at NIDA. He is a Loudon Sainthill Scholar & a Churchill Fellow.
TOI is an advocate for young people and their families. Through the vision of the Artistic Director, Theatre of Image tells Australian and universal stories to our young people as much through visual and musical images as through words.
By combining high production values with the expertise of the best Australian performing artists, TOI offers young people a real alternative to the cinema, television and theme parks that have increasingly become the mainstays of their cultural diet.
TOI has toured regionally, nationally and internationally. The company has collaborated with major performing arts companies in Australia, Canada and Japan.
