You're a young Australian artist on the cusp of a great career; you're producing excellent work and know where you're headed...now you need JUMP!
Youth Arts Queensland and its State Delivery Partners invite artists from across Australia to apply for the 2011 JUMP national mentoring program for young and emerging artists.
As Australia’s largest artist mentoring program, JUMP identifies and promotes excellence in artistic practice amongst artists aged 18 – 30, who are in the first five years of their professional practice.
Funded by the Australia Council for the Arts, JUMP supports artists in developing a one-on-one relationship with an industry leader of their choice, and working with them on a funded creative project.
The program also provides access to national industry networks, online profiling and professional development opportunities.
Julie Woodward, CEO of Youth Arts Queensland, urges artists from all fields; dance, literature, music, theatre and community, Indigenous, hybrid and visual arts; to find out what JUMP has to offer.
“Whether artists are working side by side with their mentors in the studio, or sharing feedback internationally via SKYPE, geography is no boundary. We invite metro and regionally based artists alike to identify their ideal mentor and apply for JUMP.”
Building on the success of JUMP’s inaugural 2010 program, up to 50 mentorships are available nationally in 2011.
“We have seen a significant level of artistic excellence within the 2010 cohort of JUMP mentees, and we are expecting even more applications of the same calibre for the 2011 program,” said Ms. Woodward.
Applications for the 2011 JUMP program close October 22, 2010.
JUMP is managed nationally by Youth Arts Queensland in collaboration with state delivery partners to ensure the program’s responsiveness to the local needs of young artists. State delivery partners are; Carclew Youth Arts in South Australia, Propel Youth Arts in Western Australia, CarriageWorks in New South Wales, and Melbourne Fringe in Victoria.
