Centenary seek Program Coordinator

The Centenary of Canberra is on the hunt for a Program Coordinator (Technical) to join their team. Could it be you?

You'll be working in the Culture and Communications division of the Chief Minister's department, helping out the Communication, Special Events and Executive Support branch.

The Culture and Communications Division is responsible for the delivery of services, advice, policy and programs for the ACT Government in the arts, heritage, whole-of government communications and engagement, major community events, Executive support, Ministerial services and protocol, planning for Canberra’s Centenary and Live in Canberra.

Under minimal supervision, but reporting to the Program Manager the successful applicant will:

  • Contribute to the initial scoping and feasibility of all program and partner events including commissions;
  • Oversee project and event planning from a technical production perspective and develop detailed planning schedules to ensure timely progress of all project and event development;
  • Prepare and manage project and event production budgets, ensuring consistency between project parameters and the allocated budget;
  • Liaise with relevant authorities and obtain required event approvals;
  • Oversee key event production partners and crews;
  • Coordinate collaborations with relevant third parties and maximize the participation and support of all identified stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the instigation and management of project and event tender and evaluation processes;
  • Support other members of the Culture and Communications team as required.


If you're keen to apply, make sure you meet the following selection criteria:

  • Proven high level skills in the technical/production, planning and delivery of major multifaceted festivals and events
  • Proven experience in arts project and production management including scheduling and procurement 
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and managing event/arts project budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks and opportunities after researching and analysing information
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Understanding of public service values covering ethical standards and a demonstrated self-awareness, professionalism and a proven commitment to the ongoing integration of workplace diversity, participative work practices and occupational health and safety principles and practices.
