Paul MacPhail has been appointed as Country Arts WA’s new General Manager. He is one of WA’s most experienced theatre administrators and was the recipient of a Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award in 2003.

Chief Executive Officer Jessica Machin said,

“Paul brings over 20 years of senior management experience to the position along with a passion and commitment to working with Indigenous artists and communities and young people, which are two of our current priority areas.”

Paul was one of the founding members of Yirra Yaakin Aboriginal Corporation and the founding Artistic Director of Southern Edge Arts in Albany (formerly Coco Youth Theatre). He has worked at Yirra Yaakin for the past 17 years, as the organisation’s coordinator and then as General Manager. He helped set up the company in 1993, directed early shows, trained the staff and managed the administration, training and strategic development of the organisation.
