:Danish+ Showcase and Conference 2010

posted Monday, 1 Feb

Experience the very best of Danish performing arts for children and young people at the 2010 :DANISH+ showcase and conference.

Running from 2 - 5 May, :DANISH+ invites theatre representatives and presenters from around the world to come to Aarhus/Denmark for this exclusive opportunity to witness and experience the very best of professional Danish performing arts for children and young people.

:DANISH+ is organized by Gruppe 38 and supported by the Danish Arts Council, the Central Denmark Region and the Municipality of Aarhus.

14 productions have already been handpicked for this exclusive showcase – and the curatorial group is still considering adding a surprising new performance to the program. The process of selecting the presented work has been based on only one sole parameter: Quality.

With a few exceptions all performances will be in English – and those not performed in English will be performed in consideration with the international audience.

As a new initiative a one-day conference about artistic quality in the performing arts will also be an integral part of :DANISH+.

Further information about the showcase and the performances is available at www.danishplus.dk.

Registration is compulsory, and those interested will be required to submit an entry fee of 300 Euro together with your commitment to participate. The entry fee will cover three nights of accommodation and all meals as well as free entrance to all performances and the conference.

The maximum number of participants per organization for this favourable price of 300 Euro is two. Further participants from the same organization will be charged 600 Euro per person.

Deadline for registration is March 1st 2010.

The first :DANISH+ took place in April 2008. About 60 international delegates participated and evaluated the event:

“:DANISH+ is a valuable addition to the Danish scene. For international delegates it may become a way of seeing more quality work in a shorter space of time”

“It was a wonderfully run festival - an experience of what Danish Theatre for Young Audience has to offer. I commend the organizers for making it such a successful first event”

“This festival was so well done it is hard to believe that it’s its first year. Congratulations”

Lowdown Youth Arts Editor Jane Gronow also attended last year's conference, and is chomping at the bit to return.
