posted Thursday, 1 Oct

The Department of Culture and the Arts’ Young People and the Arts funding programmes are designed to support artistic activity for, with and by young people aged 26 and under, excluding film, TV and radio. Applications for funding are assessed by a panel of young artists and arts workers.

The next deadline is February 26, 2010 for activity commencing after July 1, 2010. If you are 26 and under and want to explore new ideas, develop skills, work with a mentor, create new work or reinterpret someone else’s the Development category may be for you. The Distribution category may be worth investigating if you’re interested getting your work out there through marketing and export initiatives or showcasing your work at festivals, trade fairs, exhibitions and more.

Also in this round, the Young People and the Arts International Scholarship, gives a young artist or arts worker 29 years or younger a $30,000 Scholarship to assist with furthering their education overseas.

Checking the guidelines and contact a Young People and the Arts Project Officer to sound out your idea on (08) 9224 7300 or converse through cyberspace at youngpeople@dca.wa.gov.au.
