Finegan Kruckemeyer seems to be the flavour of the month, with three plays for children enjoying seasons nationally and in Britain.

Tasmania's own Terrapin Puppet Theatre takes Boats around regional Victoria, following on from successful performances in the Come Out and Wooden Boat festivals. Directed by Frank Newman, Boats is classic storytelling where the magic unfolds in front of the audience. The sound effects are created live, a boat is cut from bread, a bird tied from rope, a circus hides in a jacket, and finally a storm is made with a teacup. Boats tours to regional Victoria until 3 October 2010 and will tour Australia-wide in 2011.

In England, Tutti Frutti Productions (Leeds) premieres When We Lived in Uncle’s Hat, a stage adaptation of the beautiful picture book by Peter Stamm and Jutta Bauer, and directed by Wendy Harris. The play follows a family of roving musicians, who live in the strangest places (the moon, a cinema, nowhere) on a quest to find a home.

Following an Irish regional tour, The Ark and Theatre Lovett (Dublin) present The Girl Who Forgot To Sing Badly as an invited work at the Dublin Theatre Festival. This is the story of Peggy O'Hegarty. And the packing. And the blizzard. And the boat. The Girl Who Forgot To Sing Badly is directed by Lynne Parker and stars the brilliant Louis Lovett, playing every role in a very full story.
