Get stitchin' with Radical Crafternoon 5

posted Thursday, 1 Jul

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Lowdown Magazine Online and Act Now Theatre for Social Change would like to cordially invite you to the Fifth Radical Crafternoon, taking place at Format on Saturday, July 31.

The fifth installment of this ever-popular event promises to be both massive and massively-awesome; a wondrous afternoon of stitching, bitching and other subversive-type craftiness.

Have you got a craft on the go? Bring it along! All kinds of craft are welcome, including knitting, crochet, beading, cross-stitch, origami, sewing, amigurumi, stencilling and anything else you can turn your hand to. A wide range of alterna-craft patterns will be available, from crocheted zombies to knitted eyeballs and space-invaders cross-stitch.

If you’ve never crafted before, never fear! The Radical team have a library of how-to books, and a wealth of knowledge. Knitting starter kits will be available for $5, including yarn, needles, and expert tuition.

The very popular cross-stitch kits start from $5, and are suitable for beginners - it's easy to learn how! The slogans this time include "viva la stitich", "defuse climate change", and "fuck capitalism" and "I (anatomically heart) zombies". Also available is the contest-winning slogan "stitch the fuck up" - now with added eyeballs!

As usual, the crafty good times will last all afternoon - 1pm till 6pm - so drop in anytime you like, or stay the course if you want to be hardcore.

Please bring afternoon tea if you can; some will be provided, but the more we have, the more we can share :)

Cost - gold coin donations; all proceeds go to ActNow Theatre for Social Change, and the perpetuation of their Crafternoons.

So as your nanna would say, don't dilly-dally about; limber up those talons, flog your mum's old pair of knitting needles when she's not looking, and get ready for the most radical craft event of the month.

Love,

Jacquie

Crafty Apprentice
