QL2 runs dance classes for ages 9–21 to build and maintain the physical and creative skills you need for QL2 projects. At the end of each term of class, there is a session where you can show off how far you’ve come to friends and family.

Doing class consistently is vital to develop as a dancer and as a choreographer. Later, you can audition  for a major performance project; Chaos for Juniors or Quantum Leap for seniors. If you are not doing quality dance training elsewhere, you will need to do QL2's classes to get into a QL2 project, and to keep up so you can be selected for special projects.

Who is QL2, you ask? They are “Australian youth dance at its best – transforming young lives and nurturing Australia’s future dance professionals." QL2 run challenging and rigorous youth dance programs for young people. QL2 dancers are proving themselves as the next generation of Australian dance-makers and performers, going on to such companies as Rafael Bonachela Company, Chunky Move, Bangarra, Sydney Dance Company, Buzz Dance Theatre, Expressions Dance Company and Australia’s thriving independent contemporary dance scene.

Major projects within the company give a deep understanding of choreography through collaborative dance projects with professional choreographers. They have performed challenging dance works in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Armidale, Bega, Narooma, Cowra and overseas in Singapore, Thailand and Jamaica.

QL2 support young dancers and choreographers as they step up to tertiary dance study, and into the profession. You’ll have a great experience whether you continue in dance, or take your passion to other fields.

All classes are taught by qualified dancers, with teachers such as Adelina Larsson, a Canberra-based Swedish freelance dance artist and contemporary dance teacher, Vivienne Rogis, an independent Canberra choreographer and dancer and Liz Lea, an independent contemporary choreographer and performer who splits her time between Australia and London (Lea Dance).

There are four different classes you can sign up for. Fees are due at the start of term, or you can pay a higher rate weekly. These are as follows:
$12/class (complete term paid in advance)
$10/class (complete term paid in advance for 2 classes per week)
$15/class (casual, before each class)
Always arrive 15 minutes before class to prepare and pay, if necessary.

Quantum Leap Company Training (ages 15+ or by arrangement) is a challenging, physical contemporary dance class incorporating improvisation. Ideal for older dancers with some serious training behind them, or who are taking ballet elsewhere. Available on Mondays and Wednesdays, you can do either or both: they will always be different. Costs vary for either class and range from $96 - $120 per term.

Junior contemporary class (boys and girls 9–16) gives an introduction to contemporary dance: movement styles, skills, creativity and technique, all in a fun atmosphere. Highly recommended if you want to audition in August for the Junior performance project. Classes are held each Wednesday and prices range from $84 - $120 per term.

Licence to Move (boys 9–14) uses gymnastics, physical theatre, hip hop and martial arts as starting points. This is a masculine environment to explore expressive contemporary dance for young males only. Classes are held on Thursdays and prices range from $84 - $120 per term.

QL2 are a non-profit organisation, and try to keep prices reasonable. However, they understand cost may still be an obstacle. They offer a Bursary system to assist financially if cost prevents you being in any of the programs. To make an appointment to discuss this, please contact them on (02) 6247 3103 or via email.
