Kinderjazz at Glen Street

posted Thursday, 1 Jul

Kinderjazz is a 12-piece acoustic jazz orchestra influenced by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller.

1-12 year olds can get down to a variety of grooves and original songs as they are introduced to a range of jazz styles.

The experience stimulates developing minds, introduces children to the pleasures of music, and is a whole lot of fun combining blues, latin, ragtime, jazz, and swing music.

Jazz pianist and musical director to Grace Knight, Ray Alldridge will perform alongside vocalists George Washingmachine and Carrie Larkin. Joining them are Australian jazz musicians Mark Harris (from award-winning ensemble, Monsieur Camembert) on double bass, James Greening on trombone, alto saxophonist Glenn Henrich (James Morrison’s Big Band) and Jason Morphett (tenor sax). The Kinderjazz line up also includes Aykho Akhrif (Latin percussion), Paul Derricott (drums), Al Davey (trumpet), Tom McElvogue (trumpet) and Vanessa Patterson (alto sax).
