Fraser Corfield, atyp's Artistic Director announces Under the Wharf, their very own independent theatre season.

atyp's Under the Wharf season offers a helping hand to some of Sydney’s most exciting new independent theatre companies. With an open mind (and space, in atyp's Studio 1) Under the Wharf will create a program that has young artists at its heart. All the shows presented as part of Under the Wharf feature young characters or are driven by young creative teams. After all - that's what it's all about!

There will be sophisticated, challenging works that include some of the world’s best known playwrights. There’s a new Australian play Parkie, by Daniel Hayward and the world premiere of a new work , Sweet Bird Andsoforth by a young German playwright, Laura Naumann. atyp will also have some contemporary classics from Israel, Games in the Backyard by Edna Mazy and America, The Shape of Things by Neil Labute and Tooth of Crime, a play with music by Sam Shepard. Plus, a stunning reimagining of Shakespeare’s bloodiest work, Titus Andronicus.

Every artist involved has something to prove. The creative energy that is being brought The Wharf through Under the Wharf is electrifying.

The vitality, attitude and passion driving these productions is what makes this season so exciting - and you're going to love it too! So see you down at the Wharf. For more inspiration, visit their website.
