The Mobile States consortium is now seeking expressions of interest from artists across the performing arts, for works to be considered for touring in 2011. We will undertake two tours:
• A conventional tour of a single work;
• A contemporary performance event featuring multiple works of diverse genres & formats.
In addition to small to medium scale full length works (up to a touring party of ten), Mobile States is expanding its call to include durational works, short works, performance installation, live art events and site-specific works, which could be programmed in the touring performance cluster.
Mobile States has a particular interest in those artists whose practice is concerned with experimentation, research and the investigation of ideas and form. It is interested in innovative works created by small scale or project based companies.
To be eligible for consideration the works must have premiered in a professional production by the proposal deadline, Monday 8 February 2010.
Works are selected by the Directors of the consortium’s presenter members, according to the Mobile States curatorial principles outlined below:
Works selected for touring must:
• Employ multiple performance languages;
• Be conceptually, formally or technologically ambitious;
• Contribute to current cultural and/or artform developments;
• Be dramaturgically coherent; and
• Have attracted positive critique in press and by peers.
Expressions of interest must be received by COB Monday 8 February, and must include ALL of the following:
o A description of the work which outlines the content and form, and addresses the relevance of the work to the objectives of Mobile States. An artistic rationale, not marketing copy.
o Biographies for the company and key artists
o Brief technical specifications
o Audience and box office figures (if relevant) for previous seasons
o An indicative budget summary showing remount costs and weekly running costs
o Key Press reviews/critical comment (Do NOT include minor preview stories, listings etc)
o A completed coversheet form summarising your proposal.
• Be a maximum of 8 pages (excluding clippings)
• Be in the format of a single PDF file, emailed to mobilestates@performinglines.org.au
• Include a completed cover sheet form, downloadable from www.performinglines.org.au
• Include a documentation DVD. A short highlights showreel is optional, but we cannot program a work without seeing documentation of the complete performance.
