Movement for Theatre with Black Swan

posted Wednesday, 1 Sep

Black Swan are all set to thrill and skill again in Term Four with Movement for Theatre, presented by choreographer Claudia Alessi. The 10 week course covers the basics of movement, dance and choreography in theatre and on stage, with a strong focus on Laban Energies and Dynamics. It will cater to beginners through to the more practised individual, providing a venue to explore and become comfortable with the different genres of movement for theatre.

Claudia Alessi has choreographed for Black Swan State Theatre Company and the HotBed Ensemble in several of its past productions, including most recently Yellow Moon, The Clean House and The Swimming Club. Alongside a diverse dance background interwoven with acrobatics, aerial work, physical theatre, puppetry and film, Claudia lectures at WAAPA where she is completing a Master of Creative Arts degree. She’s choreographed, conducted master classes, directed and produced for various schools, universities, theatre companies, dance party events and festivals throughout Australia.

Theatre Thrills & Skills is a program involving an intensive series of performance workshops for people over the age of 16. If you're a secondary student, participation in Theatre Thrills & Skills workshops can also earn you points toward Secondary Graduation - imagine that!

Movement for Theatre workshops will take place every Thursday from 14 October to 16 December at the Old Masonic Hall (6 Broadway, Nedlands).

To secure your place, log on to the Black Swan State Theatre Company website and download an enrolment form - but make sure you do so before 5pm Tuesday 12 October!
