For the first time, teens aged 11–15 years can team up with Australian songwriter, Emma Dean to create an original musical in a week!
The CYT Holiday Workshops have been extended to include a new teen class from Monday 5th – Friday 9th July. Working daily from 10am–3pm, teens will collaborate with songwriter Emma Dean and Artistic Director, Karla Conway to adapt an intriguing and devilish short story into an original musical, to be performed for family and friends at the end of the week.
Emma Dean is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music and performances delve into the magical world where live music meets theatre. After a massively successful show at the National Folk Festival, and coming straight off the back of a National tour, this steaming songstress is heading to Canberra Youth Theatre!
Dean’s live shows have been described as “Tim Burton meets Music Theatre”, with incredible melodies, theatrical staging and oozing style and charisma. Characters in her songs come to life and performers can be guaranteed an amazing experience.
No musical theatre experience necessary, but you must enjoy singing.
