Reports from the crew at Big hART have come through with updates on the development of the Big hART's Namatjira project. They're not joking when they say the past month has "been a big one..."
Creative Producer Sophia Marinos comments through the project update,
"We've had a week of Creative Development in Alice Springs with the Namatjira family, created a promo film and performed for presenters and venues at Long Paddock in development for national touring.
This month will see the team in Alice Springs head out on the first 'on country' watercolour painting trip in preparation for a watercolour exhibition that will accompany the performance piece...
And all this as we build towards a celebration at the Araluen Centre in Alice Springs in August, and the premiere of the show, coproduced by Company B Belvoir, at Belvoir St Theatre in Sydney in September!"
There is plenty of information about the Namatjira Project online, with the latest news about the development of the theatre show and the creation of the accompanying art exhibition. With fabulous photos of the project, you can also find out more about Albert Namatjira, learn about the background of the project, read media articles and get regular updates on the thoughts of key creative members.
Performances are scheduled firstly with the Celebration of Albert Namatjira and watercolour exhibition at the Araluen Centre in Alice Springs on August 7 and 8, and the premiere of the show and exhibition at Belvoir Street Theatre and the Birrung Gallery in Sydney from September 25 to November 7, 2010.
