The Australia Council for the Arts’ Market Development department has announced a new initiative supporting Australian independent performing arts producers to conduct their business internationally.
The international travel fund provides $16,000 for up to five independent producers - individuals or organisations - towards their annual international travel expenses over the 2010-2011 financial year.
This funding gives career independent producers opportunities to develop and secure international performance opportunities; leverage reciprocity between Australian and international artists, producers and presenters; and promote and sell performance works to key international markets.
Applicants are encouraged to think creatively about the activities they wish to undertake.
The funds can be used for activities including, but not limited to, attending international performing arts trade fairs and festivals; holding international business meetings with key decision makers; or building relationships with international stakeholders.
Independent producers eligible for support must:
· be based in Australia and have permanent resident status
· have successfully delivered at least three international tours/projects
· not be attached to a venue or festival
· should represent three or more artists or arts organisations who lack the capacity to represent themselves internationally
· not be commercial producers.
The Australia Council’s Market Development department aims to create more demand for Australian contemporary arts by supporting the promotion of Australian arts and developing new markets and audiences, in Australia and internationally.
Closing Date: June 11, 2010
