Firstly, STRUT Dance would like to congratulate the three members who were successful in their application to the Creative Residency Panel. Claudia Alessi, Brooke Leeder and Floeur Alder, were chosen by a panel of seven. These residencies are made possible by the Future Moves initiative and focus on increasing STRUT's capacity to develop new productions with seed funding.

Congratulations also to Aimee Smith and Felicity Bott who were selected, along with eight other artists across Australia, to work with Deborah Hay during a ten-day residency in the Bundanon complex of NSW to develop a solo performance project; supported by STRUT Dance, Bundanon Trust, Critical Path and Dancehouse.

Keep an eye on Strut's news page for more information on the projects that develop from these residencies and to follow their blog on the Deborah Hay solos'.

Robyn Orlin is visiting soon and STRUT is offering places to it's members in a three-day workshop. Orlin is known for challenging conventions and engaging with political issues and the social realities of cultural minorities. She is referred to in a book published by the Centre National de la Danse (Paris) as a capricious rebel.

From the three-day workshop ten dance artists will be selected to participate in a free four-day investigative workshop into social themes and interactive choreographic structures. The residency will culminate in a one-hour forum, open to all members (Fri 26 Feb, 4pm), on themes related to choreography and social change. Expressions of interest in the workshop close at 5pm on Friday 22nd January. Please visit the website for more information.

Four STRUT representatives (Director, Program Manager, two artists in residence) will be attending the Australia Performing Arts Market in Adelaide. APAM is a bi-annual event that will allow STRUT Dance to connect with presenters and producers, both nationally and internationally, to explore touring opportunities and work towards the development of future programs and productions.

For information on our amateur and professional dance classes please refer to the website for the schedule in January - classes will return officially on 2nd February.

STRUT is also working on exciting master-classes and residencies that may come into fruition before the end of March, so make sure you visit www.strutdance.org.au for weekly updates and more detailed information.
