In response to the current and anticipated impact of digital technologies on artists, the arts industry and audiences, the Australia Council for the Arts has released its Arts Content For The Digital Era Strategy.
It projects that with the rollout of the Rudd government’s promised broadband network, most Australian households and businesses will be able to download games, TV shows and movies on demand within five years.
The strategy looks at, among other things: shifting audiences; the ways that artists might use new technology; how to protect artists’ commercial interests from piracy; and how to preserve the integrity of art once it’s digitised.
