It's all systems go for Western Sydney's Powerhouse Youth Theatre, with three exciting workshops scheduled for 2011 and the hunt for a Festival Director for the 2011 SHORTCUTS film festival.

The SuperNova Intensive - Acting for Juniors workshops, taking place on Monday 24 & Tuesday 25 January offer budding young thespians the chance to learn theatre and teamwork skills through drama games, impro and playbuilding exercises, as well as having stacks of fun. And if you liked those, why not get involved with the SuperNova Saturdays - Junior Ensemble? From Saturday February 5 to Saturday April 2, you'll get to take part in weekly workshops around acting, improvisation and playbuilding. Using fun and skillbuilding drama games and creative exercises you will work on creating a short performance at the end of each term – learning teamwork, leadership skills and building self confidence all at the same time.

Or, if you're after something different in the workshop world, PYT have got you covered with their SUPERHero Mixed Abilities Puppetry Workshop. Led by PYT's Creative Producer Andy Ko, this two-day intensive puppet-making workshop lets you create your own hand-held superhero or supervillain, then perform with it, learning the manipulative skills of the puppeteer along the way.

All the details of the workshops can be found over at the PYT website.

Too old for PYT's workshops? Perhaps you're the SHORTCUTS Festival Director they've been looking for.

SHORTCUTS is Western Sydney's largest short film festival for young people and gives emerging filmmakers from the region the chance to have their films screened, viewed by a panel of industry judges and possibly take home heaps of cash and prizes.

The Festival will be launched in late January & culminates in the Festival night which will be held on Saturday the 9th of April.

The Director will be employed on a casual basis (approx. 10 hrs per week) from mid-January to mid-April 2011 and will be working with the awesome folks at PYT. The lucky candidate will be responsible for seeking sponsorship and promoting the event.

Download a job info pack and direct any questions to the lovely Naomi via (02) 9724 6077 or email. Applications close 5pm, Wednesday December 15. Please address the selection criteria & include a CV.

SHORTCUTS 2011 is supported by National Youth Week, Fairfield City Council & Information and Cultural Exchange. Read more about it on the PYT website.
