Calling young and emerging playwrights, directors and dramaturgs…
Want to work with some of the country’s best theatre makers and develop your experience of new play development? Then read on...
PlayWriting Australia are now inviting applications for rehearsal internships at the National Script Workshop – their annual intensive creative development event for new plays.
Up to four internships are available, working full time or part time for two weeks from June 28 to July 9 (Monday to Friday) in Sydney. Applications from interstate candidates are welcome and thanks to the Besen Family Foundation PWA are now able to provide rehearsal interns with a small stipend to assist with out of pocket expenses, including meals and travel allowance and a contribution towards the cost of travel and accommodation for interstate interns.
A rehearsal internship is a unique professional development opportunity, allowing you to work with an amazing group of playwrights, directors, dramaturgs and actors. It gives you the chance to observe these experienced professionals and enhance your understanding of how new plays are developed and rehearsed. Interns are asked to work as de facto members of the stage management team, helping to ensure that the development process runs smoothly, managing script updates and photocopying and communicating between the rehearsal rooms and the management team. No stage management experience is required.
Rehearsal internships are for young and emerging artists with a demonstrated interest in new writing, a commitment to developing their professional skills, and the capacity to assist PlayWriting Australia as a de facto member of their stage management team.
Applications are open until available places have been filled.
The internship runs 28 Jun – 9 Jul (Mon-Fri)
