For the third year running PlayFest_10, the Riverland’s community arts festival, will hit the stage at the Renmark Institute on Friday 20 & Saturday 21 August.
This year the event has three sessions involving over fifty Riverland amateur artists including actors, directors, writers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers and choreographers.
The Friday 7.30pm session will be a night of short plays, monologues, film, and feature the debut of a new dance piece called Torn by local choreographer Kelly Wegener.
"Kelly has worked with a small group of community members with little or no experience in dance, and has produced an exciting new work that we are proud to feature at PlayFest_10," said Tully Bates, Creative Producer of PlayFest_10.
The Saturday afternoon 3pm session is aimed at children and young people and will include a comedy written and performed by Waikerie High School students, plus an interactive music piece by trombone player Jacob Mangelsdorf.
The Saturday evening 7.30pm session will be a night of music with the launch of a new compilation CD called the Sounds of the Riverland produced by Ben Petch of North Studios, and include performances by a selection of Riverland musical talent featured on the CD.
Tickets are available at the door. For more information head to www.ryt.org.au.
Playfest_10 is supported by the Almond Board of Australia.
