Ten Days on the Island, Tasmania's biennial international arts event and Australia's only state-wide arts festival, will roll out across the island with an exhilarating programme of free and ticketed events from Friday March 25 through to Sunday April 3, 2011.

Featuring international artists from island locations across the globe, alongside some of Australia's finest, Ten Days presents performances and events across the broadest artistic spectrum in a programme that features six world premieres and 12 Australian premieres, in theatre, dance, world and early music, chamber opera, exhibitions, installations, films and literature events celebrating island culture.

Under the artistic direction of Elizabeth Walsh in her third and final Ten Days programme, the 2011 Ten Days will feature nearly 500 artists from the A to Z of island cultures - Aotearoa/New Zealand, Manhattan, Tahiti, Ireland, Cape Breton, Shetland Islands, Vancouver Island, Greek Isles, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Trinidad & Tobago, Faroe Islands, Bora Bora, Bali, Haiti, Scotland, England, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Newfoundland, Wales, Japan, Montreal, Philippines, Iceland and Zanzibar.

Coupled with new works and commissions from local and interstate artists, the 2011 Ten Days programme has something to offer every taste and every pocket with 232 free and ticketed events, in 111 venues in 62 locations across the state.

To help visitors get the most from their Ten Days experience, Artistic Director Elizabeth Walsh has planned a Ten Days Grand Tour – do it all, go for a weekend or enjoy a wonderful evening out at free or ticketed events.
