Hot to Trot sees senior dancers from Quantum Leap choreograph their own short dance works with their peers. Developed from an ensemble under the mentorship of Ruth Osborne and Liz Lea, Hot to Trot is presented at QL2 Theatre on November 27 and 28 at 6pm and 8pm.
Another showcase of QL2's talented dancers is On Course, a mentorship project for young choreographers, giving returning tertiary students an opportunity to choreograph a short work or continue work on a previous composition exercise. Earlier in the year, a panel selected the participating choreographers, who were offered support by allocated tertiary and senior Quantum Leap dancers, publicity, administration support and rehearsal and performance venues.
This program attracted dance students from around Australia and offered the opportunity for tertiary students to choreograph their own works and dance in other students’ works. Dancers often reconnect and establish new relationships with their peers from different tertiary institutions and they were able to use this project to develop ideas seeded during their courses, mentored by Alice Lee Holland.
The On Course showcase will be presented at the QL2 Theatre on December 11 and 12.
