The workshops, to be held over three days in April are free, yes, that's right FREE! So any musicians, managers or indutry workers out there, if you need a helping hand or a push in the right direction, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

The series of workshops aim to provide discussion and discourse on topics of interest of the music industry to help young aspiring and even more established artists navigate their way through the ever changing music industry.

Topics in this series are covering:

Wednesday April 6: The Export Market

Join Millie Millgate from Sounds Australia and Graham “Asho” Ashton of Footstomp Music and Rick Chazan of Ground Control management as they discuss the pros and cons of Australian artists touring overseas, how to go about getting “Export Ready”, showcase opportunities and attending international conferences.

Wednesday April 13: Crowd Sourcing/Crowd Funding

With Grants becoming so competitive, traditional record label funding a thing of the past and the stark realization money is truly scarce; artists are turning to other interesting ways of funding their projects. It’s called Crowd Funding. But it’s not just about money. Crowd Sourcing is about connecting with your audience in creative and productive ways and getting the Crowd talking about you. It’s basically clever marketing. Speakers include Ben Salter from The Gin Club/Giants of Science/solo, Peter Kilroy from Blame Ringo and Matt Granfield of PR/social media agency Memery.

Wednesday April 20: Publishing, Synching and Licensing

Finally! Due to popular demand a panel that will feature discussion on all things publishing, synch and licensing. Speakers include Fergus Jenkins, Artist & Repertoire and Licensing Manager with Dew Process and Tyler McLaughlan lecturer on Music Business specializing in copyright and composer and producer Garry Smith of JamHouse.

*Please note: Due to the nature of this topic you will need to submit a question to the speakers before the session so you are able to have your question addressed during the workshop. Please send your questions to Kellie.

Just to remind you of the dates, they are 6, 13, 20 April, 2011 between 6 - 8pm. Scoot on over to Auditorium 2, Level 2, The State Library of Queensland, South Brisbane. The workshops are free to attend but seats are limited, so participants must register via the Q Music website where you will also find updates and lots more juicy information!
