The Queensland Young Volunteer awards are open for nominations. This year, the awards recognise the achievements of young people in even more ventures, with six awards categories for 12-25 year olds.

Say ‘thanks’ to an individual or group of volunteers who have made a difference for themselves and their community, by nominating them for the arts and culture volunteer award. This award is presented to winners in two age categories, 12-17 years and 18-25 years.

Arts and culture volunteers channel their passion for arts and culture into entertaining and educating the community through activities such as

- Performing in an Aboriginal dance group to promote indigenous culture.
- Giving their time to support art galleries.
- Organising a multicultural festival to promote community harmony and create a vibrant local culture.
- Promoting the arts by performing at community events.

Winners of Queensland Young Volunteers Awards for art and culture will receive $500 and the opportunity to become a volunteering ambassador.

To nominate an arts and culture volunteer, or for more information on the Awards visit the Queensland Government website.

Nominations close 5pm Friday 18 June, 2010.
