There is no limit to your imagination
There is no limit to your imagination

Riverland Youth Theatre (RYT) have kick-started the year with After School Workshop programs running until April. Due to popular demand the program has been expanded across the Riverland with workshops offered in Berri, Barmera and Waikerie in addition to Renmark and Loxton.

Young people between the ages of 2-26 years are participating in a range of workshops in drama, contemporary dance and hip hop, singing, and playwriting.

Local tutors (some of whom have participated with RYT as members) include Claire Dalzell (Dance, Tiny Tots, Drama - Loxton), Alysha Herrmann (Playwriting - Berri), Katisha Jackson (Hip Hop - Renmark), Brianna Obst (Drama - Barmera & Renmark), Jess Weidenhoffer and Narelle Schultz (Vocal Ensembles– Renmark) and Olivia Allen (Drama across the Riverland).

RYT has successfully performed at numerous community events across the Riverland in the second half of 2010 including appearances at Loxton Lights Up, the Renmark Show, the Field Days as well as appearing on their Superhero float at the Berri and Barmera pageants.

In term one this year, the After School Workshop groups will work towards similar community performances across the Riverland as well as participation in the Adelaide Fringe Festival and Come Out opening parades and the Blak Nite Indigenous performance night in Adelaide in March.

These kids are too cool for homework, instead they are being introduced to the performing arts in a fun and safe environment outside of school; it's a great place to meet friends and explore their imaginations.

To head in the RYT direction, why not check out their website for ideas.
