Riverland Youth Theatre, Country Arts SA, Berri Barmera Youth & Council Unite, Riverland Headspace and Renmark Paringa Council join forces to present ArtSpace, an open studio of art by young people in the Riverland.
ArtSpace is part of the South Australian Living Art Festival (SALA) where art of all varieties will be exhibited including 2D, drawings, paintings, photography, 3D, sculpture and digital work.
Youth aged 12-26 are invited to submit their artwork. The exhibition is free to enter.
Entry forms are available from Riverland Youth Theatre, Country Arts SA, Berri Barmera Council, Riverland Headspace, and Renmark Paringa Council. Submissions close July 30 2010.
ArtSpace will be hosted at the Renmark Institute at 54 Ral Ral St, Renmark, with an opening night to launch this exciting event on Friday August 6 from 6-8pm. All media are welcome.
ArtSpace is also thrilled to announce the inaugral People's Choice Award donated by print dna. $100 will be awarded to a young artist for their outstanding artwork as voted by viewers during the exhibition. The winner's name will be announced on August 14 at 3.30pm.
Notorious ratbags Adelaide Radical Craft will run a Crafternoon craft workshop in the gallery space on Sunday August 8 from 1-4pm. The workshop is free and suitable for all ages. It is an opportunity for local craft groups and individuals, both young and young at heart to gather together, learn skills and exchange skills from a renegade creative craft collective.
"Adelaide Radical Craft puts a new spin on the expectations of craft by knitting eyeballs, making felt animals, fabric pom poms, cross stitching about climate change and hand sewing 'I heart Zombies'," said Exhibition Co-ordinator Shaylee Leach.
The exhibition will be open from August 6-14, weekdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm and weekends from 1pm to 4pm or by arrangement.
"I hope that other creative groups and individuals from the Riverland will get involved. It's a great opportunity to meet other people that are creatively driven and to showcase your artwork," said Ms. Leach.
