Children love to play with shadows. They are mysterious and magical and can do amazing things!

Sydney Opera House’s 2011 Kids at the House program continues with internationally renowned Patch Theatre Company returning for the school holidays.

Me and My Shadow, an imaginative story about a young girl who becomes friends with her shadow, runs from 9 – 17 April in the Playhouse.

Blending fantastical imagery including shadow puppetry, a set made entirely of paper bags, eye-catching physical performances, and an original score and lighting (involving magical flying balls), Me and My Shadow provides moments of surprise, wonder and delight for young audiences.

Based in Adelaide, Patch Theatre Company have presented over 100 new productions to more than 1.5 million children and their families since it began in 1972. In 2008 Patch performed Special Delivery at Sydney Opera House.

Following the huge success of the Charlie & Lola Creative Play Area in the Western Foyers last school holidays, Sydney Opera House is thrilled to offer another Creative Play Area in conjunction with Me and My Shadow.

Creative Play Area is a place where kids and their parents can go before or after the show and join in a range of fun, educational activities for FREE. The activities have been devised in consultation with Patch Theatre Company to enhance each child’s theatre experience.
