posted Thursday, 1 Sep

Want to know what goes on behind the State Theatre Company doors? Find out at the 2011 Open Day on Sunday 25 September, 11am – 4pm, where they will unveil the 2012 season!

Members of the general public can take a backstage tour, visit the set-building workshop and view many of the unique handmade costumes that have been sewn for Company productions, including the recent productions The Misanthrope, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and Three Sisters.

State Theatre Company Artistic Director Adam Cook will announce the details of the 2012 program at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3pm in the Space Theatre.

The Dunstan Playhouse foyer will house a variety of information stalls and displays on everything else the Company offers, including membership groups, Gold Subscriptions, the Red Carpet program for 20-and-30-something theatregoers and the Education program.

“If you’ve ever wanted to know more about what State Theatre Company does, how our shows are put together and what’s in store for next year, this is the perfect opportunity!” Adam Cook said.

“We’re very proud of next year’s program and the work that we do in general, and we look forward to welcoming everyone through the doors on the day, where all will be revealed!”

Food and drink will be available from the various Adelaide Festival Centre outlets, and local company Burger Theory’s van will be parked nearby.

Also on hand during the day will be plenty of children’s entertainment, including face painting and balloon animals.

In 2012 State Theatre Company will also officially celebrate 40 years, as a result of the State Theatre Company of South Australia Act of 1972, an initiative of Don Dunstan.

Tickets to the 2012 season will be on sale from 9am on Monday 26 September, with priority booking time given to subscribers.
