SYN and FReeZA kick things off with The Hoist...Unplugged on November 19 and December 17 (third Friday of every month). The Hoist is your chance to witness Melbourne's up and coming musical talent, before they hit the big time. Youth radio broadcasters SYN, together with FReeZA present this series of live gigs showcasing two emerging local bands.
Witness an unlikely mash-up of Martial Art and Street Dance as well as a Wushu vs B-boy battle on Friday, November 26 as Anthony 'Lamaroc' Lawang and Yasushi Asaya (Cultural Infusion) battle it out.
On Friday, December 3, artsy types can paint the town red with Art Nation, a free visual art session with some of Melbourne's renowned drawers and painters; while all the b-boys and fly girls can get down on the D-floor with City Breaks, a free dance workshop.
Budding actors and playwrights have the chance to be part of the exclusive performance premiere of Page to Stage on Friday, December 10, as Director Naomi Brouwer and a Melbourne DJ take to the stage with a brand new play. No experience is required, and it's free!
The fun times don't end on Saturday morning either, thanks to Signal's Sunday Sessions.
Get funky on Sunday, November 21 with Signal Space: Jason Coleman's Ministry of Dance. Learn how to krump, tap and hip hop like the pro's with the So You Think You Can Dance? judge and some of Melbourne's top dancers and choreographers.
Sunday, December 5 hosts Signal Sound - get the secrets from Melbourne's leading composer Rosalind Hall, and talented sound artist Mel Chilianis on what it takes to create your own sound piece. All sound making instruments are welcome, so head along and make a racket!
Learn the latest in animation, photography and video with contemporary media artists Yandell Walton and Salote Tawale in Signal Screen, Sunday December 12. At the end of the program, everyone that comes along will have their work exhibited on the Signal screens!
On Sunday, December 19, renowned artist Chay-Ya Clancy takes over the Signal Studio with her workshop, Folding Wonder. Find out all the secret techniques in printmaking, zine writing, paper folding and electronic publishing from the pro's - all for free!
