As part of its inaugural year’s program, Signal is running a pilot residency program, offering two week-long residencies in June 2010 to performance artists.
Signal are looking for two individuals or groups who are wanting to seed, create, perform or develop some form of performance work (theatre, dance, performance art – anything you would determine as performance).
For each residency, Signal can offer:
* six days in the Signal Space : 7–12 June or 13–18 June
* access to the computer hub
* Signal will cover expenses up to $500.00
* support from the Signal team (producing, technical, marketing, funding etc)
* support to market a showing of your work at the end of the 5 days.
(please note, there is no need to use all these offers)
Additional support available
* technical, production, promotional and funding advice from Signal staff
* marketing of a showing of the work on the final day of the residency
Application information:
Who can apply
* the lead creatives must be aged between 13 to 20 years as of 1 June 2010
* more than half of the creative team must be aged between 13 to 20 years as of 1 June 2010
* anyone who is making a ‘live performance’, whether this be dance, theatre, performance art, circus, comedy etc.
* groups or individuals
* anyone who has a strong concept, idea and creative direction for the residency
How to apply
* fill in the application form
* provide one A4 page that describes the work you’re wanting to create, explore, develop – this can be in any format that suits you, eg. text, images, mind map
* evidence of your performance experience through support material e.g. footage (maximum 5 minutes), images (maximum 20), reviews, reference letters and CV.
Applications are due by Sunday 25 April at 4pm.
Applications can be submitted by post or in person. Posted applications must be postmarked by the deadline.
