Solo at the Street

"Ain't no party like an underage house party."

posted Monday, 24 May

In the lead-up to launching the 2011 Solo Performance Festival, The Street Theatre is proud to present Solo At The Street, a collection of solo performances ranging from traditional storytelling to avant-garde cross-artform work from some of Australia’s finest performers.

As part of this programme, The Street Theatre has already staged Faces in the Street performed by Australian actor Max Cullen.

Next in this 2010 season is local writer, David Finnigan's Underage House Party Play from June 3 to 5 - a navigation through teenage party politics in search of the glamorous side of being young and messed up.

Performer Matthew Kelly takes on the role of five teenagers through their coming-of-age on a single night at a typical teenage rager. Directed by Green Room Award-winner Stephen Barker and with lighting design by Gillian Schwab, Underage House Party Play delves into the steamy last days of youth: sex, drugs, fights, new loves and lost opportunities. Workshopped by Finnigan, Kelly, Barker, and the Street Theatre’s Caroline Stacey, this newly commissioned work, part of the Solo at the Street 2010 series, embodies the Street Theatre’s commitment to providing creative opportunities to local artists.
