Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

posted Thursday, 1 Oct

Just in time for the October school holidays, The Night Zoo is a brand new work from Spare Parts written and directed by Michael Barlow.

From her window high above the city Jamie dreams of making friends with animals, but Mum and Dad won't let her have a pet in the apartment. Tonight, whilst the rest of the city sleeps, Jamie is getting a visit from Meerkat and Elephant, Orangutan and Penguin, Thorny Devil and Giraffe. It's going to be a jungle up there! The Night Zoo is brought to magical life with puppets, masks, dance and animation, plus a light sprinkling of manure. Go wild with the wildlife of The Night Zoo and join Jamie for a night in which her dreams might just come true.

The Night Zoo is recommended for anyone who's a bit of an animal, but perfect for 4–10 year olds. The show’s design is by Iona McAuley with Assistant Designer Matt McVeigh, composer Lee Buddle, lighting design by Romi Poonoosamy with performers Katya Shevtsov and Jacob Lehrer. Bookings: www.sppt.asn.au or (08) 9335 5044 ($3.00 phone booking fee applies).
