Stories East and West is a special event that will play for one night only on the main stage Belvoir Street Upstairs Theatre. This co-presentation from Company B and 4a is directed by Annette Shun Wah and William Yang with six performers: Paul Cordeiro, Joy Hopwood, Daphne Lowe Kelley, Mai Long, Teik-Kim Pok and Mary Tang.
With roots in China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Australia, these six storytellers come together to share their histories exploring the relationship they have with their ancestors and their cultural heritage, and how this impacts on their lives today. The production developed from a series of workshops conducted by William Yang.
Performance 4a is a Sydney-based not-for-profit organisation that has been staging performances in Australia, Singapore and China since 2002. Their work discusses the links between Australia and Asia in contemporary culture.
Annette Shun Wah is the President of Performance 4a as well as a writer, actor, director and producer with extensive experience in radio and television. She is fourth generation Australian-Chinese.
