One of the UK's most innovative theatre companies are once again poised to bewitch Malthouse Theatre audiences with an even more twisted adventure.

Having picked up a swag of awards worldwide for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, including the 2007 Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award, 2008 Peter Brook Empty Space Award and two nominations for 2008 New York Drama Desk industry awards, 1927 are returning to Malthouse with The Animals and Children Took to the Streets.

Crackling with the macabre, this collage of silent film, white painted faces, music hall song, fairy tales and cabaret takes you into a dystopian metropolis. Here is a brave new world populated by shady characters and objects that aren't quite what they seem…and it's all under threat from a Beast on the loose.

1927 combine sophisticated digital technologies with early animation techniques to create a warped and magical world that might have been… had only other small quirks of fate occurred. Seams of live music, performance, storytelling and animation merge as this hair-raising and deliciously funny tale bursts into three dimensions, threatening to gobble the audience up like the Beast itself.

Intrigued? Why not take a second to check out 1927's latest production video on YouTube.

Join the animals and children in the Beckett Theatre, The Cub Malthouse (113 Sturt St, Southbank) from November 9-28.

For booking information or more details, take to the Malthouse website or phone them on (03) 9685 5111.
