The Go-Go Project

posted Sunday, 1 Nov

In South Australia, the Port Adelaide Enfield region has the highest proportion of African migrants and humanitarian refugees. The G o - G o ensemble, founded through Vital-statistix Theatre Company, is a group of young leaders from within their communities - aspiring actors, sing-ers, dancers, comedians, models and writers.

And what a fabulous bunch they are! The G o - G o group mem-bers are innovative, ambitious, have a lot to say and are excited to have an amazing platform to express identity and contemporary issues of concern through performance.

G o - G o will confront mainstream media's images of young Africans, presenting stories of belonging and identity and written by the G o - G o ensemble members themselves.
The G o - G o project is half way through stage two of its four stage project, working steadily toward the development showing of the ensemble's work so far to be held at Waterside on Sunday 6 December.

The group are also looking forward to 2010, gearing up for their Adelaide Fringe show, an original performance piece combining a number of art forms and is set to be a wonderful insight into what it is to be young African Australians.

In December the Go - Go Project is having a development showing of the work in conjunction with Phil Allan and his crew at the Multicultural Com-munities Council. They are making a day of it with two performances, food, drums and dance... 2pm Sunday 6 December at Waterside, 11 Nile Street, Port Adelaide. FREE!
