Worried about how to keep your hands away from the mince pies this holiday season? (They are rather scrumptious). Then keep your hands busy with the ThreadTech and Pro Tools Workshop Series' at The Edge.

Ever felt like your clothes could use a bit more pizzazz? Want to stand out from the crowd? Come along and participate in our ThreadTech workshop series, and all your dreams will come true.

The ThreadTech workshop series is being run by The Edge's digital visual design Catalyst, Colleen Morgan. Colleen specialises in using electronics in clothing, to give garments a little something special. She is running three separate workshops, designed for beginners through to advanced tinkerers, and prior experience is not required.

ThreadTech 1 (December 15, January 12 or January 26) will introduce you to the wonderful world of sewable electronics, as you use conductive thread to stitch your very own LED laden motif.

ThreadTech 2 (February 2 or February 23) follows on from ThreadTech 1, teaching you how to use a microprocesser called a Lilypad to program LEDs sewn into clothing. Make them blink, fade or even change colour (how pimpin' is that!)

The final workshop, ThreadTech 3 (March 2) is an advanced workshop in which you will learn how to use data from sensors to control LED lights. Participants will have the choice of using a motion sensor (accelerometer) light sensor or temperature sensor.

There is a small fee involved with each workshop to cover costs, but participants are able to keep all of the equipment they receive.

Since The Edge has opened, there has been massive demand for workshops teaching punters to use the music software Pro Tools. So, The Edge's wonderful sound Catalyst Andrei Maberley is doing just that. He is running two workshops in December, teaching the basics of Pro Tools for FREE. Workshops are limited to 6, which means that all attendees are guaranteed one-on-one attention from the facilitator.

The workshops are designed for people who understand the basics of Pro Tools, so if you haven't done an induction, best book one prior to the session. Over a couple of hours Andrei will go through how to set-up a session for various musical styles, demonstrate workflow ideas and tips for managing recordings. He'll bring some sessions he has worked on as examples from various genres for the group to pull apart and play with, and participants will also cover the differences between LE, M-powered, TDM versions of Tools.

For more information and to book for either of the workshops, visit the Pro Tools Workshop and ThreadTech Workshop websites.
