There's less than a week left to check out the first exhibition at Trigger - Adelaide's hottest space for emerging curators and artists!
Run by the Fringe Benefits art-lovers program for 18 to 30s, Trigger is one of the first galleries in Adelaide to give young curators and artists a chance to take the lead and host their own exhibition for free.
Located on the ground floor of the Adelaide Fringe headquarters, the Trigger gallery will soon transform into a temporary staff hub in preparation for the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Before it does, make sure you pop by and check out the debut exhibition, You Were(b) Right.
You Were(b) Right features works by seven local artists which draw you in with their colourful exterior, only to reveal themselves as deadly serious.
After launching to a crowd of 120 guests in September, Trigger has proved a valuable springboard for first-time solo curator and UniSa Visual Arts student, Riley O’Keeffe.
"The Trigger gallery has given me a unique chance to put my studies into practice and build my profile among artists, event coordinators and the public," O’Keeffe said.
Trigger’s exhibiting artists have also benefited from valuable exposure, including Laura Haigh, who sold two of her works through the current exhibition.
Fringe Benefits is now on the lookout for its next aspiring curator to produce Trigger's second exhibition in April 2011. If you're a curatorial whiz just waiting to show off your skills, or an artist jonesing to showcase your work at Trigger, contact Fringe Benefits on (08) 8100 2061 or via email.
Trigger's current exhibition, You Were(b) Right, is open Monday - Friday from 9.30am to 5.30pm and closes Friday 29 October.
