Stompin presents WeTubeLIVE, a living exposition of 100 solos. Ripped from the internet and performed live by a diverse group of young Tasmanians, WeTubeLIVE is a playful response to the video sharing site YouTube.
Debuting in the Junction Arts Festival, WeTubeLIVE is a part of Junction 2010 - the Regional Arts Australia national conference in Launceston from 26 – 29 August 2010.
Stompin has assembled an incredibly talented team of artists to collaborate with young non-professional Tasmanian performers aged 14-26. The performance features concept and direction by Ben Speth, Artistic Facilitators Becky Hilton, Adam Wheeler and Emma Porteus and production from Frog at Bluebottle.
Stompin is forging longstanding relationships in the community, working with diverse groups of young people from Brookes High School, young people from the West Tamar Council, Meenah Mienne, Dorset Council and Second Story Youth Theatre.
Each performer selects and learns their favorite YouTube clip, which will then be staged live and simultaneously, filling the Albert Hall in Launceston with dancing, talking and singing young people. The audience is invited to walk through and around this giant living exhibition and experience YouTube as never before.
Stompin's WeTubeLIVE takes place on Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27 at Albert Hall (corner of Cimitiere and Tamar Street, Launceston). Tickets are available through the Princess Theatre Booking Office: phone (03) 6323 3666 or visit www.theatrenorth.com.au.
